COVID-19

What NRWA is doing to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

COVID-19 IN NAMIBIA

How Rural Women in Namibia are experiencing the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Our RWA members in Namibia have been busy distributing materials to inform our fellow members and other rural women on how COVID-19 is spread and how to prevent contracting it. They have also been busy teaching households to improvise in the absence of running water and hand sanitizers. Rural women skilled in tailoring have been mobilised to start manufacturing masks to distribute and sell to their communities.

COVID-19 IN AFRICA

How Rural Women in Africa are experiencing the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 crisis continues to affect the world, and Africa is not immune…

On a continent as vast as Africa, with 1.216 billion people in 54 countries, it’s understandable that different countries have been reacting in different ways to the pandemic. Many governments have implemented physical-distancing, closed schools, suspended travel and implemented strict lockdowns in order to delay the spread of the infection. Rural women have disproportionately been impacted by lockdowns, states of emergency and closures of economies, schools and transport routes.
