NRWEP PHASE 1

The Namibia Rural Women Empowerment Project (NRWEP) phase one (1) implemented by Namibia Development Trust (NDT) from November 2016 – November 2017. The project was funded by the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) to the tune of USD 81 184.00. The overall project goal was “to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of the self-organization by women in order to maximise their agency in influencing policies”.

The Rural Women Empowerment Project Phase 2 from August 2018 – September 2020, seeks to build on the successes of the phase 1 it aims at amplifying rural women’s voices so that they are able to shape and influence policies in the agricultural and rural development sectors for the benefit of the rural woman on the ground. The project was funded by the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa
(OSISA). In this second phase, the project also seeks to identify and capacitate women at local community, regional and national levels to enable them become creative structures or platforms for equipping women at the grassroots with necessary information, knowledge and skills that can help them to act as individuals and also as a collective in advocating and lobbying for the betterment of the Namibian rural woman.
